This design actually came from a sign created by Rawson & Evans around the turn of the century. Located in Chicago, they became the nation's leading supplier of Glue-Chipped decorative glass. We used a small photograph of the original sign and modified it for use as our first finished project.

While this project does not fit the mold of the other Jackson Hole related subjects, it has firm roots in the same period of time. The decorative border and letter centers have been glue-chipped followed by another old time technique called “Angel Gilding”. By controlling the amounts of solution gold and solution silver, we were able to achieve a variety of pale to gold color. The red background was carefully airbrushed from cardinal red to maroon. United Cigars challenged us to produce a full run of ten pieces and gave us a chance to fine tune some of the processes used heavily in later pieces.
