Located in the Woodman Building in 1914, L.H. Zimmerman, proudly offered his goods and services to the valley residents and visitors. “Our goods will be absolutely fresh & clean and handled by one who understands the care of meat”, he proclaimed in his ad the Jackson’s Hole Courier.

Rawson and Evans were responsible for most of the glue chipped glass signs in the Chicago area around the turn of the century. If Mr. Zimmerman had sent his wording off to them to have a sign made, this is possibly what it might have looked like when finished. Most striking in their techniques was the dominant used of glue chipped glass with silvered backgrounds. Most of their signs had distinctive ornamentation around the edges and borders. While many of their signs were simple lettering with an ornate trim, some did have painted illustrations as we chose to portray. Hand blended Japan Colors were used in the main copy and red frames. |
