Hotel Jackson, one of the largest landmark buildings in 1914, was located at the present day location of the Legacy Gallery. While this hotel had numerous owners over the years, E. L. Enyon was the proprietor at the time the ad was placed in the Jackson’s Hole Courier. We used the exact wording from the ad in this design. It was one of the few buildings which used locally made bricks. As with any good hotel of the time, a livery and feed stable was “in connection”. By this time, Jackson’s Hole was attracting tourists from all over the country. Stay at the Hotel Jackson and expect good service at “regular rates”.
This is an extremely detailed edition. The back of the glass has been textured with an acid etch, mixed with small mica flakes to give a delicate but noticable finish in selected areas. The balance between silver mirroring and various shades of gold leaf is striking. Fine outlines of silver, gold and copper accent throughout. A faux marble background behind the main lettering and delicately spattered the edges along the border, executed by hand, make each piece unique. The illustration was drawn in pen and ink from a historic photo of the building. Once the detail lines were applied to the back of the glass, the color work was carefully hand painted to complete the pieces.
