Every graphics program seems to work differently, however most have the ability to set grids and guidelines for helping with basic layouts. We used them extensively when making this collection. Most programs have a Cleaver or Slice tool which lets the user cut an existing graphic into two or more pieces as we have done in the example above. The lower panel was moved up with the "Constraints" turned on, which kept it in alignment.
Then, using the Weld or Contour command, we simply recombined the two sections. We copied the two little curls in the lower part, flipped them up to the top and resized them to fit the space. In this example, we removed one outline and reversed the color to black for a different look than the orignal. Lastly, we added some text using the LHF Brewer's Bold font, included on this disk.
With a little practice, this entire operation can be completed in a few minutes. Experiment with your software and have fun!
