How to add text inside a free form ribbon :
The free flowing ribbon below might pose some problems for some designers. Not all design programs have a feature that lets you expand text and shapes "into an envelope", but it might be worth digging around in your software to find this nifty feature.

This is the original file from the CD. You "could" hand digitize a baseline or envelope for this shape, but it's much easier than that! |

I selected the inside black shape on the ribbon and "inlined" it by approximately the amount of space I want above and below the lettering. |

After the outline was created, I trimmed the ends using the cleaver tool, deleting the excess. This creates the envelope. Next, the text was added at the approximate length of the envelope. In Gerber's Omega 2, select the envelope first, then shift-select the text and used the "Warp" command (other software should work similarly). |

With the click of the OK switch, the text automatically fills the envelope as seen here. The extra panel and ornament were added. This group of elements were ready for colorizing below. |

The Office panel was put in a new layer in Photoshop so it could be easily adjusted and colorized over the ribbon layer. This would make a stunning dimensional sign! To see a few more colorized designs from the Americana Collection of Panels and Ornaments, Click Here!
